Day 11 in Las Vegas: Savouring Flavours, Embracing Art & a Spontaneous Souvenir

Published on 2 April 2025 at 18:21

Our final full day in Las Vegas was another whirlwind of fun and adventure! After a leisurely morning at the hotel, recharging our batteries for the day ahead, we had one crucial item to tick off Charlie's ever-growing list of American fast-food experiences: Raising Cane's.

As we pulled up to Raising Cane's, music was pumping outside, creating a real buzz.  Stepping inside, the atmosphere was just as lively, with a constant stream of happy customers.  We each opted for different items on the menu, eager to sample what this popular chain had to offer.  And boy, did it deliver!  Every single one of us loved our meals, but the real star of the show was undoubtedly the Cane's sauce.  It was, hands down, our favourite fast food in the US.

Fuelled up and ready for more excitement, our next stop was somewhere we'd been eagerly anticipating, Meow Wolf Omega Mart at Area 15.  Having caught a glimpse of its bizarre and captivating exterior earlier in our trip, we couldn't wait to dive into its immersive and mind-bending world.  We spent a good few hours lost in its surreal aisles, uncovering hidden passages, and trying to decipher the quirky "products" on display.  It truly is a unique and unforgettable experience – you can read our full review of The Omega Mart here!

With our minds thoroughly twisted and our imaginations sparked, we were ready to head back to the hotel until i realised that i hadn't done something that was on my Las Vegas bucket list.  For a while now, I've been toying with the idea of getting my first tattoo.  Having seen Koolsville Tattoo and their $10 tattoos, I had decided that this trip was the perfect opportunity.

A quick Google search revealed several Koolsville Tattoo locations.  The closest one appeared to be at a place called Planet 13.  From the map, it looked like a standard shopping centre, so off we went.  Mark waited in the car with the kids and i excitedly went on my way.  As soon as I walked in the entrance I was immediately asked for ID, which seemed a little odd for a shopping centre!  It quickly became apparent why - I had stumbled upon the largest cannabis dispensary in the world!

The sheer scale of the operation was astounding, with various cannabis-related businesses, shops, and cafes lining the walkways. There were even robots making cannabis behind the glass as you waked down the main hallway.  Amongst it all was the Koolsville Tattoo studio.  Unfortunately, the queue was quite long, so I decided to head back to the car, much to Mark's amusement at my accidental detour into the world of legal cannabis.

Undeterred, I searched for another Koolsville location and decided to try my luck in the Arts District.  Once again, Mark and the kids patiently waited in the car while I ventured off.  This time, I was in luck!  The queue was short and sweet.  After a quick consultation, I decided on a small $20 tattoo on my ankle – a tiny airplane leaving a delicate trail in the shape of a heart.  The process was surprisingly painless and incredibly quick.  In a matter of minutes, I was back out, beaming with my very first tattoo!

A quick dash back to the hotel to freshen up, and we were soon out again for our evening meal reservation in Chinatown at Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya.  We were warmly welcomed by our host, who expertly guided us through the menu, recommending a selection of their signature dishes.  We also indulged in a few of their incredible cocktails.  The food was absolutely phenomenal, and the service was impeccable – you can read our full review of Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya here!

Our culinary adventure didn't end there! Our host at Ton Shou invited us to visit Tous Les Jours bakery, which was owned by the same company.  Despite it being quite late, the bakery was surprisingly bustling when we arrived.  Stepping inside, we were greeted by an enticing display of pastries, cakes, and sweet treats.  We grabbed a tray and eagerly selected a variety of goodies to try – fluffy donuts, delicate pastries, and decadent cakes.  To accompany our treats, we ordered a rich caramel latte and a hot chocolate, while the boys opted for a milkshake and a smoothie.  Everything was absolutely delicious and  reasonably priced.

Finally, with our stomachs full of delicious food and buzzing with the day's adventures, we headed back to the hotel.  It was time to start the inevitable packing process, ready for the final leg of our incredible USA road trip – Arizona!
