Looking for a day out that's more about imagination and adventure than screens and queues? Then a trip to BeWILDerwood Cheshire is exactly what you need! Our family recently spent the day exploring this magical outdoor adventure park, and it was a hit with everyone, from the smallest explorers to the grown-ups who are still just big kids at heart.

What is BeWILDerwood?
BeWILDerwood is a unique, whimsical woodland adventure park based on a series of books by author Tom Blofeld. Unlike a typical theme park, it's all about natural, unstructured play and letting your children's imaginations run wild. Think giant, wonky wooden treehouses, towering slides, muddled mazes, and wobbly bridges, all nestled within a beautiful, sprawling forest. The park is designed to get the whole family involved, encouraging adults to climb and play alongside the kids.
Our Favourite Adventures
From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the whimsical feel of the place. Here's a rundown of our family's top activities:
-
Slippery Slopes: These were an instant hit! There are several sets of giant slides set into the hills, and you grab a hessian sack to go down. The wide slides allow you to go down together, which was great for a race! We went on these over and over again.
- Wobbly Wires: The zip wires are a must-do! There are different sizes for various ages, including a smaller one for toddlers. We loved whizzing through the trees, with the adults getting just as much of a thrill as the kids.
-
The Sky Maze: This multi-level maze high up in the treetops was a thrilling challenge. We scrambled across narrow walkways, bridges, and tunnels, all while trying to find our way to the top. It's a fantastic workout and offers some amazing views of the park.
-
Den Building: This was a surprisingly popular activity. The dedicated den-building area provides sticks and branches for kids to work together and build their own little hideouts. It's a brilliant way to encourage teamwork and creativity.
Our Top Tips
To make your day at BeWILDerwood Cheshire as smooth as possible, here are a few tips from us.
- Book Online: It's highly recommended to book your tickets online in advance to secure your entry and get the best prices.
-
Ticket Pricing: Tickets are based on height, which determines access to certain attractions. Children under 92cm are free.
- Arrive Early: The park can get busy, especially on weekends and during school holidays. Arriving at opening time (10 a.m.) ensures you have plenty of time to explore everything and beat some of the crowds.
-
Wear Comfy Clothes: This is an active day out, so dress in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. The ground can get muddy, so wellies are a great idea, especially on a rainy day.
-
Bring a Picnic: We'd always recommend taking a picnic to help keep costs down, there are lots of picnic benches scattered throughout the park. However if you don't fancy it, the food served at the Munch Bar and Cosy Cabin is delicious and reasonably priced too.
BeWILDerwood is a truly unique and unforgettable day out. With its enchanting atmosphere, exciting activities, and friendly staff, it's a must-visit for families seeking an adventure off the beaten path. We left with tired legs, big smiles, and fantastic memories, the perfect recipe for a successful family day out.
